Good advice, Liz. I think we all went through that crazy time when you are just getting started. I have a fairly modest but solid following. When I have to decide, I only publish if what I am writing fits very nicely into what the publication is about. Otherwise I self-publish. In terms of success, it's been about a horse a piece. I have done well both ways, and I have had disasters both ways. There is a certain element of luck to this.
