Trump needs to think more about this
Sometimes I wonder if Donald Trump is having a competition with himself to see who can come up with the dumbest idea. Right now, it is hard to tell who is winning.
Speaking of winning, it appears that Donald Trump is attempting to win the hearts and minds of those who haven’t figured out that Manifest Destiny ended some time ago, and that it wasn’t the greatest idea to begin with.
For those of you who either never studied American history or did, but forgot large parts of it, like Donald Trump, Manifest Destiny is the belief that the United States was destined to stretch from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific coast. This belief was used as a license to destroy the indigenous peoples who happened to be in the way and had the audacity to defend their homelands.
Of course, that march to the Pacific coast didn’t stop at the Pacific Coast either. In 1893, the United States “acquired” Hawaii, and following Spanish Spanish-American War in 1898, it also “acquired” Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Why stop at the Pacific coast?
