As the white father of a black son, I felt everything you wrote. When he was growing up, I can't tell you how many times people asked me if he was adopted. He was not. When he was in high school and out with his friends, I worried about how the police would view a car filled with young black men. Today he is a college graduate living in downtown LA. He is doing well, and yet I worry EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.
