As the war went on, more and more soldiers came to understand the war had nothing to do with stopping communism and more to do with simply saving face. Those who were drafted understood rich kids didn't get drafted, kids like Donald Trump, George W. Bush and the like. Kids getting drafted heard what the protestors were saying, that the U.S. wasn't on the wrong side - the US was the wrong side. The rest was predictable.
