As a white man who raised a biracial (black/white) son, I know exactly what you mean. I can’t tell you how many times I have worried about his well-being simply because of his skin color. I had to explain to my son why it was easier for me than it would be for him, simply because the color of my skin was the color of privilege. Of course that didn’t stop him from graduating high school at age 16 and graduating from USC with a double major in math and economics.
