Another Head-Scratcher from Donald Trump
Just when I thought I’ve heard it all
I’ve been around a while, and I’ve heard a lot of things in my lifetime. I heard Richard Nixon say he was not a crook. I heard Ronald Reagan say that trees cause pollution. I heard Dan Quayle say “Republicans understand the importance of the bondage between a mother and child.”
Like so many older people, I occasionally delude myself into thinking I’ve heard it all when I obviously have not. Today Donald Trump reminded me of that when he stated that “black people like him because he’s been discriminated against in the legal system.”
Let me state that again. Trump said that black people like him because he’s been discriminated against in the legal system. I did not read this in “The Onion” or any other satirical publication. Trump actually said this, and he actually meant it.
If you almost spit out your coffee when you read this, you can go ahead and swallow now. It’s safe.
In all fairness, there are some Black people who do like Trump. Ben Carson does. Mike Tyson does. So do Dennis Rodman and Herschel Walker. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Kanye West too.
