Although I didn’t adopt my son, I made myself aware that I needed to educate myself in order to raise him. One thing I did was to make sure he spent time with Black men. Fortunately that was easy because I have a number of male friends who are Black and they made good uncles. Also having a Black mom (and her whole family) helped a lot too. Some white people who adopt Black children would be better off just getting a pet instead.
