After my first wife and I split up, I still remember attending our son's confirmation in the Lutheran church (I am a "recovering Catholic."). One of my ex-wife's friends came up to me during the service and told me I was not allowed to go to communion! If this had been the Last Supper, I would have been told to order carry-out! What you describe is precisely why organized religion has no place in my life. I tell people I wasn't raised with organized religion. I was raised Catholic.
