About that Medium Survey…

I wonder what prompted such a thing?

I almost didn’t notice it. As a matter of fact, I’m not even sure how long it was at the top of my screen before I did. It might have been there for days and I was in too big a hurry or too absorbed in what I was reading to see it.

If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at the top of your screen. There might be a small, clickable banner that asks you to take the Medium survey. It strokes the reader’s ego by saying your input is important. They want your feedback.

I admit, given the implosion of earnings and the sad state of distribution, I had to take a few deep breaths before taking the survey. I actually considered not taking the survey at all, given the possibility of punishment if I was too honest.

When I opened the survey, the first page told me it would take about five minutes to take. I figured I didn’t have much to lose, since I’ve lost most of it already. I proceeded.

I was asked what I use Medium for, and I told them I use it as a platform for reading and writing. What I left out is that I also use it as a tool to divert my followers over to Substack. I didn’t think they would take that too well. Don’t tell anyone, okay?
