A Letter to Gen Z
Here are some things for you to consider
Dear Gen Z,
I might be a 66-year-old man who belongs to Generation Jones, the tail end of the Boomers, but I do know a thing or two about the members of Generation Z, or Gen Z as you’re called. My son was born in 1997 and I am quite familiar with how things are stacked against him and other people his age.
Many of you are disillusioned with America’s political process. You have listened to politician after politician make and break promise after promise. Year after year you have seen the prices of houses shoot to the stratosphere while you wear the ball and chain of student loan debt. You are forced to live with your parents or roommates because the cost of housing is well beyond what your salary or wages can buy.
You remember being told that if you work hard, go to school, and do what is expected of you, you will be successful. In the back of your mind, you probably envisioned owning a house, raising a family, and taking vacations. You probably pictured yourself driving a nice car and being happy.
You are painfully aware that few of these things have ever come to fruition. You feel cheated and ripped off. You did what you were told to do by your parents and teachers. You borrowed money and went to school. You have a job. You work hard. You…
