A Different Kind of “Great Resignation”
People are quitting more than just their jobs
One of the results of The Great Pandemic was that people began to question whether or not “normal” was worth going back to. People sheltered in place. Some lost their jobs and collected unemployment. Others worked remotely. What this did was give people time to evaluate how they spent their time working, and many came to the conclusion that what they did for a living was not worth it.
They quit. We called it “The Great Resignation.”
But there is another great resignation going on that doesn’t get much press. People are probably even participating in it without realizing it. It is so subtle, so just-beneath-the-surface. It is the resignation that things will never be any different than they are now. Things aren’t going to get “better.”
We have resigned ourselves to the fact that the wealthy will always run our country. The truth is, they always have. Until the election of Donald Trump, our wealthiest president was George Washington. If you have ever been to Monticello, you know how wealthy Thomas Jefferson was. That entire generation of revolutionaries was nothing more than a bunch of rich white guys who were tired of sending the wealth to England. They wanted to keep it here.
