7 minutes is what I think is the ideal length too. Whenever I get beyond 7 minutes, I hear a voice in my head saying "wrap it up, John, wrap it up." I also think of 10 minutes as a wall. Anything on the other side of that wall few people will read, myself included. Unless I already know the author, when I see 2 digits, I am turned off.
