100%. I hitchhiked from Wisconsin to the west coast alone. I backpacked in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California alone. I hiked in the Green Mountains of Vermont alone. If I waited for other people to come along, I would never have done those things. I am not waiting for someone else so I can live my life. While it is dangerous for women in today's society, it is dangerous for men too. The road rage maniacs or those who drive stolen cars 100 mph don't care who is driving the car they slam into. While it is still safer to be a man in today's society, that safety is eroding at an ever-increasing rate.
